KYC & Prize Payout Verification

At BestCompetition, we want every draw to feel exciting, fair, and above board. To make sure prizes go to the right people – and to keep things compliant with basic anti-money-laundering expectations – we run simple Know Your Customer (KYC) checks before releasing certain prizes.

This page explains what that means in plain English.

Why we verify winners

KYC isn’t about making life difficult. It’s there to:

• Confirm we’re paying the right person
• Make sure winners meet our eligibility and age requirements
• Help prevent fraud, identity misuse, and money laundering
• Protect the long-term integrity of BestCompetition for everyone

Most players will only ever notice this if they win something big. For smaller wins, the process is usually very light-touch.

What we may ask for

Depending on the value of the prize, we may request one or more of the following from the winner:

• Please provide your Draw Reference (e.g. MEGA-1500-D04) from your confirmation email.
• Full name and date of birth
• Residential address and country of residence
• A government-issued photo ID such as:
  • Passport
  • Driving licence
  • National identity card
• Proof of address (issued within the last 3 months), such as:
  • Utility bill
  • Bank or credit card statement
  • Official tax or government letter

For very high-value cash prizes, we may also ask for brief information about the source of funds used to enter (for example, salary, savings, business income, or inheritance).

Different prize levels, different checks

We use a risk-based approach. That means higher-value prizes come with slightly stricter checks.

Small prizes

For lower-value prizes (for example, smaller cash amounts, vouchers, or physical items):

• We normally verify details against the information on your account and order
• Where possible, we pay cash prizes back to the same payment method you used to enter
• In most cases, no extra documents are required

Medium prizes

For medium-value prizes:

• We may ask for photo ID and proof of address before payout
• We confirm that your name, age and country of residence match our eligibility rules
• We may run basic checks against public sanctions and watchlists, as required by our payment providers

High-value & major cash prizes

For large or life-changing prizes:

• We will always require photo ID and proof of address
• We may request additional details, for example basic source-of-funds information
• We may carry out extra checks if:
  • You are based in a higher-risk jurisdiction
  • You are a politically exposed person (PEP) or closely related to one

If we are not satisfied that we can verify your identity, eligibility, and compliance with our terms, we may delay or refuse a prize payout in line with our Terms & Conditions.

How prize payouts work

To protect you and us, we follow some simple payout rules:

• We only pay cash prizes to accounts in the winner’s own name
• Wherever possible, we use the same payment method used to enter the competition
• We do not pay prizes to:
  • Sanctioned individuals or entities
  • Residents of countries where our competitions are not permitted
  • Third-party accounts unrelated to the verified winner

If a winner prefers a different payout method for a legitimate reason, we’ll review this on a case-by-case basis, but additional checks may be required.

Your data and privacy

We know ID documents are sensitive. We treat them that way.

• Your information is stored securely and accessed only by authorised team members or trusted service providers who help us perform KYC checks.
• We only keep your KYC records for as long as necessary to meet our legal, regulatory, and operational obligations.
• We never sell your documents or use them for marketing.

Refusing or failing KYC

If a winner:

• Refuses to provide requested KYC documents, or
• Provides information that we reasonably believe to be false or misleading, or
• Cannot be verified to our satisfaction,

we may withhold, cancel, or re-draw the prize, in line with our Terms & Conditions.

This protects all genuine players who enter fairly and helps keep BestCompetition safe and sustainable.
